Première victoire de la saison pour le britannique Lewis Hamilton qui confirme « enfin » après trois pole positions sans succès en course. Il égale le record des victoires au GP de Hongrie en rejoignant Schumacher avec 4 unités. Hamilton devance « Iceman » et sa Lotus-Renault. Le leader de championnat pilote, Sebastian Vettel, complète le podium à l’Hungaroring. Romain Grosjean continue sa montée en puissance. Après un « drive-through sévère, le français finit 6ème après avoir passé la majeure partie du GP aux avant-postes.

Au classement pilotes, Vettel ne devance plus Alonso mais Räikkönen. L’allemand compte 172 points, le finlandais 134. Alonso et 3ème au général à 1 point de Kimi Räikkönen. Hamilton est 4ème avec 124 points.
C’est maintenant les vacances pour le grand cirque de la Formule 1. Prochaine épreuve, le 25 aout sur le plus beau tracé du monde, celui du circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.
