La relation entre Lotus et Iceman n’est pas au beau fixe depuis quelques mois et après l’annonce de son départ chez Ferrari. Le champion du monde 2007 va certes être payé mais il ne finira pas la saison avec Lotus. En effet, Raïkkönen va subir une intervention chirurgicale au dos. C’est le journal Turun Sanomat, du pays d’origine de Raïkkönen, qui révèle cette info.
Les problèmes de dos de Raïkkönen remontent à septembre 2001 suite à une grosse sortie de piste, lors d’essais, sur le circuit de Magny-Cours. Le finlandais évoluait alors chez Sauber. C’est Steve Robertson, le manager de Raïkkönnen, qui a annoncé la nouvelle : Les experts recommandaient la chirurgie, et il se fera opérer jeudi prochain à Salzbourg. C’est évidemment décevant de conclure la relation avec Lotus de cette manière après deux saisons couronnées de succès, poursuit Robertson. Cependant, Kimi ne peut pas se permettre d’attendre plus longtemps. Il est essentiel de résoudre ce problème définitivement afin qu’il entame dans les meilleures conditions la saison 2014. »
Raïkkönen manquera donc les Grand Prix des Etats-Unis et du Brésil. Cependant, Lotus F1 Team n’as pas encore confirmé l’info. En 2012, Iceman avait fait le show au Brésil, souvenez-vous…
