Alors qu’un second Grand Prix d’Autriche se dispute ce week-end sous le nom de Grand Prix de Styrie, la FIA et les promoteurs de la Formule 1 ont annoncé, hier, deux nouvelles dates qui s’ajoutent donc aux huit premières épreuves de la saison 2020.
Le calendrier F1 2020 accueille ainsi le Grand Prix de Toscane qui est programmé au 13 septembre sur le tracé du Mugello et le Grand Prix de Russie (27 septembre), ce dernier conservant la date initiale à laquelle il a été fixé. D’autres Grand Prix devraient s’ajouter au calendrier F1 2020, ceci en Asie et outre-Atlantique.
C’est donc en Italie, sur un circuit jamais emprunté, à ce jour, par les monoplaces de Formule 1, que la Scuderia Ferrari célébrera son 1 000ème Grand Prix, en espérant pour Charles Leclerc et Sebastian Vettel que leur SF 1000 soit plus performante. Rappelons que le pilote monégasque a réussi l’exploit de se hisser à la 2ème place du GP d’Autriche dimanche dernier.
Chase Carey, le patron du Formula One Group s’est exprimé sur l’ajout de nouvelles courses au calendrier F1 2020 :
« Nous sommes ravis de pouvoir annoncer la présence du Mugello et de Sotchi au calendrier 2020. Nous avons connu un super début de saison en Autriche le week-end dernier et sommes de plus en plus confiants quant à la poursuite du championnat sur le restant de l’année 2020. »

- 19 juillet : GP de Hongrie (Hungaroring)

- 9 août : GP du 70ème anniversaire (Silverstone)
- 16 août : GP d’Espagne (Barcelone)
- 30 août : GP de Belgique (Spa-Francorchamps)
- 6 septembre : GP d’Italie (Monza)
- 13 septembre : GP de Toscane (Mugello)
- 27 septembre : GP de Russie (Sotchi)
