Quelques heures après l’arrivée du GP de Belgique remporté, initialement, par George Russsell, ce dernier a été disqualifié. Le coéquipier et compatriote de George Russell, Lewis Hamilton, en profite pour récupérer la victoire au GP de Belgique, pour 1,5 kilos. En effet, la monoplace Mercedes-AMG F1 W15 E Performance de Russell a été pesée, après la course, à un poids non conforme en-dessous de la valeur réglementaire.
Le lois qui régissent le sport automobile, la Formule 1, et tous les règlements des autres disciplines sportives diverses et variées, peuvent être cruelles pour les compétiteurs. Comme évoqué en introduction, George Russell a donc été disqualifié du GP de Belgique 2024. Lewis Hamilton en profite, bien involontairement, pour remporter, à Spa-Francorchamps, sa seconde course cette saison.

La structure Mercedes-AMG F1 Team a, rapidement, assumé l’erreur commise sur la monoplace de George Russell en s’exprimant sur le fait d’une éventuelle perte de gomme plus importante que prévue, suite à la stratégie à un seul changement de pneus, décidée pour George Russell.

Suite à la disqualification du GP de Belgique 2024, de George Russsel, Max Verstappen (277 points) récupère 2 points au classement pilotes de la saison F1 2024. Lando Norris suit avec 199 points et Charles Leclerc (177 points) est 3ème.
Rendez-vous est donné, chez Max Verstappen, le dimanche 25 août prochain, sur le circuit de Zandvoort, pour le GP des Pays-Bas.
