Quelques jours après le Grand Prix d’Italie, Luca di Montezemolo quitte la firme mythique de Maranello. Luca di Montezemolo aura donc vécu ses derniers instants comme Président de Ferrari et de l’écurie F1 à Monza.
Venant juste de fêter ses 67 ans, le 31 août dernier, Lucas di Montezemolo a tenu à s’exprimer ce matin sur sa décision : « Ferrari aura un rôle important à jouer au sein du FCA Group (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) à Wall Street. Cela lancera une nouvelle période qui devrait être emmenée par le PDG du Groupe. J’ai donc décidé de quitter mon poste de Président après 23 merveilleuses et inoubliables années ajoutées à celles passées aux côtés d’Enzo Ferrari dans les années 1970. »
Sergio Marchionneste, l’actuel PDG de Fiat qui a récemment critiqué di Montezemolo sur le manque de résultats de l’écurie de F1, le remplacera à partir du 13 octobre 2014. Poussé vers la sortie, Luca di Montezemolo devrait rebondir au sein de la compagnie aérienne Alitalia, à un poste à très hautes responsabilités.
